The Worcester African Nations Tournament (WANT) proudly honors Richard Boateng, owner of Anokye Krom, as a WANT 2025 Awards Winner.
Originally from Ghana, Mr. Boateng moved to Worcester in 1997 and later opened Anokye Krom to create a welcoming space where African immigrants—especially Ghanaians—could feel at home. With Worcester becoming a growing hub for the West African diaspora, he recognized the need for a place where people could relax, connect, and enjoy authentic West African food and culture.
Anokye Krom is known for its popular dishes such as jollof rice, fried plantains, and traditional West African meals, and has become a major gathering place for families, friends, and community members.
Named after the legendary Ghanaian leader Okomfo Anokye, Anokye Krom represents pride, history, and unity.
WANT is proud to celebrate Mr. Boateng for his leadership, entrepreneurship, and continued impact on the Worcester community.
